Debrecen’s exhibition venues are also preparing for the Night of the Museums together this year, coordinating their programs. The representatives of the institutions reported on their programs on the 27th of May 2024, in the Reformed Small Church in Debrecen.

“The Debrecen Reformed Small Church is taking part as an independent venue in the Night of Museums for the first time, where visitors are welcomed with, among other things, an interactive music exhibition, the presentation of animated films on local history and a night tour of the tower, “ tourism representative of the Debrecen Reformed Small Church Dániel Sárosi highlighted.

Deputy Mayor István Puskás drew attention to the fact that ticket sales for the 22nd of June event started today. As he said “the cultural institutions in Debrecen, in line with the national program series entitled “Gólpassz”, are realised in the theme of football.He emphasised that the Debrecen network has been expanded with new partners this year with the participation of the Verestemplom and the Reformed Small Church, and the temporary exhibition of the Bocskai brigade will be located in the MCC Aranybika (Golden Bull) building”.

“As part of the collaboration with the DVSC, those interested can meet real football legends at the Night of the Museums in the Déri Museum, and in the House of Literature in Debrecen, they are preparing literary button soccer and community LEGO building,” press representative of the Déri Museum Krisztina Dallos-Nagy said.

Specialist director of the Museum of the Debrecen Reformed College Dávid Csorba revealed that during the evening musical guided tours, thematic sports programs and folk board games would await visitors. He added that among the programs there would also be a gerundium (oak cudgel with lead weights)  trial preserving the symbolic tradition of the College.

Artistic director of the Vojtina Puppet Theater Terka Láposi  invited families on a special adventure tour. She noted that during the evening, visitors could see around a hundred puppets and even hear the voice of Henrik Kemény. As she said, as part of the football theme, László Vitéz would play button football with the devils.

Managing director of MODEM Katalin Vizi drew attention to the fact that they would be participating in the event for the second time this year as a public collection, the focal point of which would be their first permanent exhibition titled “What year are you?, which had recently been opened. She noted that during the evening they were preparing subjective guided tours, and they would like to revive the music program called Fűszer-Csemege (Spice Deli).

“The church welcomes visitors from eight o’clock in the evening until midnight and prepares for the evening with special light painting,”  pastor of the Verestemplom Veronika Tóth-Mihala said.

“On the 22nd of June visitors will be treated to unusual guided tours. As part of this, Mayor of Debrecen László Papp will also guide the guests through the walls of the Reformed Great Church.  Organised by the Reformed Great Church, the programs start at three in the afternoon, with a church yard market next to the Glass Pyramid. As part of the program series, the Debrecen Garrison Band gives a film music concert, and at night the audience can hear an organ concert, and the pastors cook “Karakter church burgers” next to Karakter 1517 Bookstore and Café,” pastor of the Debrecen-Great Church Reformed Parish András Beszterczey emphasised.

The Night of the Museums will take place on the 22nd of June from 4 pm to midnight in several venues, with the participation of several institutions. The Night of Museums program series will again be accessible with a joint wristband this year, which can be purchased in advance from the 25th of May. 

In the case of the Jewish Community of Debrecen, the programmes will take place between 22:00 and 12:30, and the venue is the synagogue of Pásti Street.

The wristband entitles visitors to view all exhibitions participating in the collaboration, and can be purchased online or at the locations.
