Nominations for city award recipients still open for one more week

In keeping with tradition and by Municipal Decree 24/2020 (VIII. 27.), the General Assembly of the Municipality of Debrecen will award the titles of Honorary Citizen, Pro Urbe, and Patron Awards on the occasion of the City Day on the 11th of April.

The Honorary Citizen of Debrecen title is a citizen’s highest honour. It is awarded as a recognition of a lifetime achievement that has significantly contributed to the material, intellectual, and moral growth of the city and its citizens, strengthening the city’s prestige.

The Pro Urbe Award of Debrecen can be granted for decades of commendable activity that has contributed to the city’s development, enhanced its reputation, and served the local community’s benefit.

The Patron of Debrecen Award acknowledges significant financial contributions made voluntarily and without compensation, supporting the city’s growth and development.

Nominations for these awards may be submitted by individuals residing in Debrecen at the time of the nomination and by leaders of civil organizations, churches, business entities, scientific institutions, institutions, and communities operating in Debrecen.

The deadline for submission of nominations is the 10th of February, 2025.

The mandatory nomination form can be obtained at the reception of the New City Hall (11 Kálvin Square) or downloaded from www.debrecen.hu, where the list of previous awardees is also available.

Nominations should be addressed to the Mayor of the City and sent to the Cultural Department of the Mayor’s Office of Debrecen by post (New City Hall, 4026 Debrecen, Kálvin Square 11) or submitted in person.

For further information on the proposal, please contact Zsuzsa Mózes-Szabó, Cultural Officer (szabo.zsuzsa@ph.debrecen.hu, +36 52 517 707).
