“The opportunities for higher education are expanding, and after last year and the year before, when we enrolled around 75 thousand people in state scholarship courses, this year we have significantly exceeded this number, providing more than 87 thousand places,” the Minister of State for Higher Education, Vocational and Adult Education and Youth of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation announced on Thursday on her Facebook page.

Veronika Varga-Bajusz mentioned the University of Debrecen as an example, whose capacity increased to 8,594 people this year compared to 6,401 state scholarship places last year, and the University of Pécs, in which the capacity was set at 5,750 people this year instead of 4,593 places last year.

“The capacity is the planned number, which was prepared taking into account the previous focuses of the applicants, the labor market needs and quality aspects” the Secretary of State explained in her post, adding that the final number of admitted students will be determined when the score limit is announced, with numbers similar to or even higher than in previous years.

The politician reminded that Corvinus University exited the state scholarship system in 2020 with the model change and provides students with a free study opportunity through the Corvinus Scholarship provided by the Maecenas Universitatis Corvini Foundation.

“The university itself determines the number of free training places, which is expected to be similar to last year this year,” she wrote in her post.
