Professional lectures and live demonstration surgeries were held by domestic and foreign specialists at the Surgery Clinic of the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen.

During the professional training, surgeons were able to hear, among other things, about the latest oncology surgical guidelines and the most modern surgical technologies, the practical application of which they could see live, during various thyroid, breast and stomach surgeries.

The latest oncology surgical guidelines and the most modern surgical technologies were presented at the lecture series held by the Department of Surgery for domestic specialists.

The surgeons of the clinic performed thyroid, breast, stomach, colon, rectum and liver resection surgeries, during which, in addition to the basic surgical principles, the interested parties were also able to learn about the various applications of indocyanine green and the latest, fully electric intestinal suture machines.

“The indocyanine green technique is used most widely in Hungary at the Debrecen Department of Surgery. The indocyanine green dye assists surgeons during operations, significantly increasing the accuracy and safety of interventions, contributing to faster recovery of patients,”  Director of the Department of Surgery at the University of Debrecen Clinical Center Associate Professor Dezső Tóth explained.

The participants of the advanced training courses came from numerous institutions in the country, including the hospitals of Karcag, Cegléd, Győr, Székesfehérvár, Nyíregyháza, Veszprém, Gyöngyös and Szolnok, as well as the South Pest Central Hospital and the North Buda Saint John’s Central Hospital.

At the two-day international training course at the end of November, Serbian, Lithuanian and Latvian surgeons interested in laparoscopic colorectal surgery were able to learn about the daily work and structure of the Department of Surgery of the University of Debrecen Clinical Center, and observe seven laparoscopic colorectal surgeries.

“In addition to the presentation of surgical techniques and local customs, the training courses are also useful because they create the basis for future cooperation opportunities. I would like to thank the surgeons, operating room staff, nurses and specialists of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care for their dedicated work, with which they contributed to the success of all three training courses to the fullest extent,” Director of the Clinic Dezső Tóth added.
