The Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen (UD) has further strengthened its ties with the city’s cultural institutions. The agreement signed with the Vojtina Puppet Theatre on Tuesday will provide students with more educational opportunities and practical training in the future. The cooperation agreement was signed by Deputy Dean Péter Csatár and Director Anikó Asbóth.
Thanks to the framework agreement, the Vojtina Puppet Theatre and the Faculty of Humanities will jointly organise courses for university students with the involvement of professionals from both institutions.
“After a long time since 2021, when the Centre for the Arts was established, this niche art education is once again available on our faculty, not only for students studying at the faculty of Humanities, but for all students at the institution. The palette of existing institutional relations, with the Csokonai National Theatre, Déri Museum, MODEM, has been further expanded thanks to the agreement with the Vojtina Puppet Theatre, which opens up new perspectives for students who are receptive to the arts,” Deputy Dean for Strategy and Economics of the Faculty of Humanities, Péter Csatár told hírek.unideb.hu portal after the signing ceremony.
In addition to artistic work, the Vojtina Puppet Theatre’s headquarters, theatre and puppet-making workshop will now also be a place for practical training, where students can gain insights into the 21st century trends of domestic and international puppetry.
“Thanks to the joint work, they will gain up-to-date knowledge about, among other things, the latest developments in contemporary puppetry, puppet aesthetics, visual theatre, and gain insights into the world of animatable mechatronic structures and robotised puppets, and the interconnection of art and technology,” Anikó Asbóth said.
The Director of the company emphasised that all the spaces of the Vojtina Puppet Theatre are ideal for professional practice, for students who want to get to know the theatre workshops and try out the creative processes of art.
The Arts Centre at the Faculty of Humanities has already offered students many opportunities to gain a deeper theoretical and practical understanding of culture and art.
“This offer will now be further expanded with the planned joint work with the Vojtina Puppet Theatre, which will enable us to organise exhibitions, theatre performances, performances, art and cultural education projects, programmes that are closely linked to the activities of the Centre,” Zsigmond Lakó summarised.
Speaking about the future plans, the Director of the Arts Centre of the Faculty of Humanities said that the activities of the Centre are currently supported by an expert committee of university lecturers. The panel is expected to be enlarged soon with external experts from different fields of cultural life.
