From Monday we can fly to Burgas in Bulgaria and from Wednesday to the island of Corfu in Greece with Wizz Air from Debrecen. There will be two weekly flights to the Bulgarian coast and one weekly flight to Corfu, and both flights will run until the end of September. Wizz Air has one more holiday flight this season, to Antalya in Turkey, that flight already started in April and will continue to operate until the end of October.

Wizz Air currently flies to London, Rome, Larnaca in Cyprus, Istanbul and Eindhoven from Debrecen, and Lufthansa to Munich.

Charter flights have also started. Tui has launched charter flights to Antalya in Turkey, as has Ibusz. Ibusz also operates charter flights to the Greek island of Crete, to the city of Hania. Robinson Tours operates charter flights to Bourgas in Bulgaria and Kartago Tours to Monastir in Tunisia.

The annual passenger traffic at the airport last year was 306,000.

The airport operator Debrecen International Airport Ltd. expects a ten percent growth by 2024.

Although the growth in passenger numbers could have been higher due to the increase in travel demand, Wizz Air’s engine maintenance at the beginning of the year reduced the number of flights for a short three months, so no major increase in passenger numbers is expected.

In the meantime, the airport is in the process of expanding its terminal, which is scheduled for completion by the end of July or early August.
