Since the beginning of October, Vitesco Technologies has been part of Schaeffler Group. The Managing Director of Schaeffler Debrecen Ltd. made a statement in this context.
As reported earlier, the German company Vitesco Technologies became part of Schaeffler Group on the first day of October. As is known, both Schaeffler Group and Vitesco Technologies have plants in Debrecen.
Managing Director of Schaeffler Debrecen Ltd. Péter Szabó said both factories now operate as Schaeffler plants. He added that the Debrecen site, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is constantly growing and developing.
“Most recently, we have expanded our product portfolio to include ball bearings suitable for electric cars. Following the successful ramp-up of series production, this year our factory has become a European centre for ball bearing production and operates as a regional competence centre,” the CEO emphasised.
As he pointed out the company now produces 25 million tapered roller bearings, 5 million ball bearings and 500 million tapered rollers per year.
“ We currently employ 1500 people. Thanks to the significant increase in capacity and product range, Debrecen is supplying bearings to the European car plants within the group. In addition, two Schaeffler plants are now operating in Debrecen with the addition of the former Vitesco Technologies company. We welcome nearly 1,400 new colleagues to our team, who will now also contribute to the success of the company group, to the innovative field of e-mobility and to the expansion of the product range. Our second plant will also continue to grow in the future to meet customer demand. Together we will be a leading Motion Technology Company,” Péter Szabó concluded.
