Municipal commemoration on the 20th of August 

On the occasion of our national holiday, the day of King St. Stephen, the founder of the state, the Municipality of Debrecen Municipality commemorated the day of St. Stephen, the founder of the state, with the following programmes on the 20th of August 2024.

Ceremonial flag raising at Kossuth Square – 8:20 a.m.

Hoisting of the national flag, with military salute, accompanied by the Debrecen Garrison Band.

Sacral program and consecration of bread in front of the Great Church – 8:25 a.m.

Blessing and distributing the new bread by the representatives of the historic churches with the participation of  the Debrecen Folk Ensemble.

Flower carnival parade – 9:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m.

Commemoration and wreath-laying ceremony on Dósa Nádor Square – 12:00 p.m.

Speech by Deputy State Secretary, Máté Vincze at the wreath-laying ceremony.

Contributors: Debrecen Garrison Orchestra, folk singer, folk musician and Young Master of Folk Art, Lilla Tóth, and poet János Lackfi.

Ceremonial lowering of the flag on Kossuth Square – 6:00 p.m.

Lowering of the national flag with military salute.

Evening Flower Carnival Parade – 8:00 p.m.
