The dual vocational training program of the BMW Group Plant Debrecen has reached another milestone
The third year of training began at the beginning of September, so the automotive industry professionals of the future are now being trained at full capacity in Debrecen. The graduating students of the first year, admitted in 2023, began their last academic year this year. After a successful exam, the car manufacturing company awaits them with a job opportunity.
“The BMW Group has been committed to training professionals for more than a century, and it has brought this experience to Debrecen. With the dual training program created jointly with the Debrecen Vocational Training Center (DSzC), the BMW plant in Debrecen has become one of the largest training centers in the country in a short time,” according to a BMW Group statement.
As they report, “This school year is of particular importance: the very first year has entered its third and final year.
The students already spend most of their time in the plant’s production technology areas, where they deepen their practical knowledge and gain direct experience in the application of Industry 4.0, robotics, 3D printing, and virtual and augmented reality. At the end of the school year, after successful exams, they can begin their professional careers at BMW.
The Debrecen plant has also successfully joined the student exchange program of the group’s global dual training network. As part of this, six Debrecen students can spend a month each at BMW’s factories in Germany and Mexico, while the Debrecen plant also hosted six foreign students. This opportunity not only provides professional development but also valuable international experience for the participants.”
The BMW plant announced that another 100 students joined the dual training program in September this year, including three girls who are continuing their studies in electronics and mechatronics. Students participating in the program can choose between six professions—mechatronics technician, electronics technician, automotive mechatronics technician, IT system and application operation technician, industrial IT technician, and power electrical technician.
The school year traditionally started with the freshman camp, which concluded with parents visiting the Talent Campus, gaining insight into the modern environment where their children will learn and develop in the coming years.
The “Talent Factory” initiative, which serves to develop the talents of students, is also an integral part of the BMW Group Dual Vocational Training Program. Within the framework of the program, students work on their own projects under the guidance of their instructors and develop practical tools for the factory.
At the exhibition held in the Communication Center in July, the students presented their developments to their colleagues with great success.
The dual vocational training program of the Debrecen plant uniquely combines modern educational infrastructure, a high-tech production environment, and the nearly one hundred years of training experience of the corporate group. The participants of the program not only gain professional knowledge but also acquire communication, presentation, and project management skills and also become familiar with the core values of teamwork and corporate culture.
The success of the program is demonstrated by the fact that the BMW Group Plant Debrecen has become one of the most attractive employers in the region among young talents. Those who successfully complete the three-year training course have a direct path to various areas of the company, offering long-term, secure career opportunities.
