For five weeks from the end of September, the symbol of the Hortobágy National Park, the crane, will be in the spotlight.
The most attractive natural event of this period is the crane migration.
The crane symbolises the Hortobágy National Park and is one of its most treasured natural assets. From the end of September to the beginning of November, the Hortobágy National Park Directorate organises tours to see the daily movement of tens of thousands of cranes, which is linked to dusk.
The programme is called “Following the cranes on four wheels” (Hungarian: „Négy keréken a darvak nyomában”) and will allow visitors to observe the cranes migrating to their night roosts.
The programme will start with screening the film “Crane up in the Sky” (Hungarian: Darumadár fenn az égen) at the Visitor Centre of the Hortobágy National Park. After a short briefing, guests will set off to the field site in a convoy of their cars.
Registration and further information are available on the Hortobágy National Park Directorate website.
