June-Jam – Music Festival organised by high school students on the 7th of June

A new event is being born this week in our city, thanks to the collaboration of creative young people. The one-day music event, called June-Jam, gives high school bands the chance to showcase their talents.

The venue will be the area in front of the Egri Wine Bar and Borbarát Gallery on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street on Friday the 7 of June, between 4.00 p.m. and 10.30 p.m.  The event will feature six bands, most of them from Debrecen schools.

The festival has the great merit of being entirely organised and implemented by young people, from brainstorming, poster and logo design to music making, students from different schools work together at every stage of the implementation. Students from the main organisers (Tóth Árpád Grammar School and Medgyessy Ferenc Grammar School) are putting the event together with the help of István Kovács, the owner of the wine bar. Students from the Kós Károly Art School will design the logo and posters, while the students of  Baross  Gábor Technical School will help with the sound engineering. As the students modestly put it, “overall, it will not be a big event, but rather an open and free initiative that will further enrich the programme of Debrecen and give student bands a chance to present themselves”.
