The Night of Literature invites you on an extraordinary journey through world literature. Over three nights, actors will read excerpts from 24 authors from 24 countries, in places not necessarily connected to literature, but which will show it in a new light.
This year’s theme, to which the selected texts are linked, is the “ Opposite Shore”.
For the sixth year running, Debrecen has hosted literary readings in atmospheric downtown venues. The texts, representing the many shades of world literature, are brought to life by the Csokonai National Theatre’s theatre artists.
- The readings will take place in 8 outdoor venues in parallel from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with a rain venue provided.
- At each venue, a 10-15 minute excerpt of a particular author’s work will be performed, starting at 7:00 p.m, 7:30 p.m, 8:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9:00 p.m.
- Each venue will offer a taste of literature from different countries on different days.
- You can plan your own literary itinerary for the day, with the help of a printed map.
- Participation is free of charge and no pre-registration is required.
