Since 1931, the World Animal Day has been held every year on October 4, the day of St. Francis of Assisi, who is also revered as the patron saint of animals. It has been a tradition for many years that on the occasion of this important day the Zoo is  try to bring the many wonders of the living world closer to children's groups and families with guided tours and activities, and this year, within the Animal Protection Theme Week and the Great Forest Week, they are waiting for visitors with thematic programs for two weeks, between October 2 and 15 . Every weekday, kindergarteners and schoolchildren are invited to zoo pedagogy sessions and green craft sessions, for which registration is required at least 4 days in advance via the email address zooped@zoodebrecen.hu. Under the banner of ALL-IN Debrecen, colourful cultural days are organised several times a year, during which communities living in the city with various native languages and cultures can get an opportunity to introduce themselves. The Magdafest will be held between the 4th and the 10th of October, 2023. The Csokonai Theater in Debrecen organises a series of programs relating to Debrecen writer, Magda Szabó. The purpose of the event is to present the talent and the work of female artists whose unique art, like Magda’s, would be less known to the general public.
