Animals’ World Week

Since 1931, the World Animal Day has been held every year on October 4, the day of St. Francis of Assisi, who is also revered as the patron saint of animals. It has been a tradition for many years that on the occasion of this important day the Zoo is  try to bring the many wonders of the living world closer to children's groups and families with guided tours and activities, and this year, within the Animal Protection Theme Week and the Great Forest Week, they are waiting for visitors with thematic programs for two weeks, between October 2 and 15 . Every weekday, kindergarteners and schoolchildren are invited to zoo pedagogy sessions and green craft sessions, for which registration is required at least 4 days in advance via the email address zooped@zoodebrecen.hu. ALL-IN Debrecen – German Cultural Days

Under the banner of ALL-IN Debrecen, colourful cultural days are organised several times a year, during which communities living in the city with various native languages and cultures can get an opportunity to introduce themselves. The purpose of the series of events is to create a homely, diverse cultural community, to learn about each other and from each other, to build bridges with the tools of culture. Magdafeszt 2023

The Magdafest will be held between the 4th and the 10th of October, 2023. The Csokonai Theater in Debrecen organises a series of programs relating to Debrecen writer, Magda Szabó. The purpose of the event is to present the talent and the work of female artists whose unique art, like Magda’s, would be less known to the general public. Everyone is warmly welcomed to the theater event lasting several days. The organizers are preparing several productions. In the theater's colorful lineup, everyone can find a play or performance that suits their taste. Exhibition of contemporary painters Anikó Éberling and Zsuzsa Szász

The exhibition of contemporary painters Anikó Éberling and Zsuzsa Szász is open free of charge at the Kölcsey Centre until the 20th of October 2023. The exhibition is open daily from 10. a.m. to 6 p.m. during the opening hours of the Kölcsey Centre, and until 7 p.m. during evening events. Deputy Mayor of Debrecen István Puskás will give a welcome speech at the opening of the exhibition on the 27th of September at 6 pm. Baroque music concert in the Debrecen University Reformed Church

The Budapest Festival Orchestra brings beautiful music to Debrecen as part of their Community Week program on October 6, from 6 p.m. The baroque ensemble of the orchestra gives a free concert in the Debrecen University Reformed Church. Community building is particularly important to the Budapest Festival Orchestra. Over the past thirty years, the orchestra and its audience have grown into a large, music-loving family, which is constantly expanding and experiencing together the strength of the unity born over the years. One of the goals of their  Community Week program is to grow this family, to forge and strengthen existing communities, and to create new ones with the power of music. There are many people in the country who are open to music, who are only separated by kilometres and lack of time from the experience provided by the Budapest Festival Orchestra. Jazz Night – Free Improvisations

The Deutsches Kulturforum Debrecen and ALL-IN Debrecen cordially invite you to the jazz concert "Jazz Night - Free improvisations" on the 6th of October at 7:30 pm in the Great Hall of the Kölcsey Centre. This evening, the German Cultural Days will bring together two great figures of European jazz and free music and a young talent, pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach, for a unique musical experience. His music harmoniously combines elements of free improvisation and contemporary classical music. During his career, Schlippenbach has founded several orchestras and worked with outstanding musicians such as Evan Parker and Paul Lovens. Péter Ajtai - double bass: Péter Ajtai is one of the outstanding figures of the young jazz generation, who breaks with tradition and convention to create unique sounds. He has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Hamid Drake and Alexander von Schlippenbach, and is a leading figure in the Hungarian avant-garde music scene.  Attila Gyárfás - drums: Attila Gyárfás is a drummer and composer who brings his passion for free improvisation and unique melodies to the stage.
