The exhibition of József Csoma titled “Footprints of My Footsteps” opened on the 22nd of September in the Kálvin Gallery of the Great Church.  József Csoma started his artistic career from afar. In 1976 he graduated as a toolmaker at the 109th Vocational Training Institute in Debrecen. He started to work as an apprentice and then as a technical designer in Téglás. Vojtina Puppet Theatre Launches a Series of Exhibitions

Vojtina Puppet Theatre 13 Kálvin Square, Debrecen, Hungary

Artistic director Terka Láposi, the permanent curator of the exhibitions, invited artists and craftspeople who regularly help Vojtina to reflect on the secrets of the creative process, and who are all connected to puppets and puppetry. First, an exhibition of the works of Krisztina Csatáry-Nagy, the permanent photographer of the puppet theatre, will open on the  24th of  September in the exhibition space of the puppet theatre in Kálvin Square.  As a photographer, she has been following the life, performances and events of the Puppet Theatre for almost a decade, so the exhibition is a kind of documentation of the professional work and everyday life of the Puppet Theatre. She believes that she can create, to capture a moment authentically, when she gives herself completely to those who allow her to open up layers of herself to them. To stretch out a single image in an ideal moment, to extract it from the whole, requires total surrender. It takes time, it takes preparation. She wants to capture the real perceived state, feeling, mood. Her theatrical images are visual representations of the performances.  Date: from 24 September Location:  Exhibition space of the Puppet Theatre in Kálvin Square.  Source:dehir.hu

Exhibition “Institutional Fictions – The Possibility of an Art Faculty in Debrecen” in MODEM

MODEM art center 1-3 Hunyadi János Street, Debrecen, Hungary

The exhibition “Institutional Fictions – The Possibility of an Art Faculty in Debrecen” with the main focus idea of a possible art faculty in Debrecen takes visitors on a utopian journey and functions as a sort of thinking experiment. Giving young artists from Debrecen and abroad a platform to exhibit their work is one of MODEM Project Space's primary goals, but it's also crucial to make room for multidisciplinary art projects that address the city as a cultural organism. In September 2023, in cooperation between MODEM and the Department of Architecture of the University of Debrecen, Master of Architecture students took a course on the question of which area of the city and in which form the building of the Faculty of Arts could be built. One of the starting points for the project was the realisation that Hungary is a capital city-centric country in terms of cultural history. This is why it is worth paying more attention to the potential of rural art faculties and art institutions, and to develop them in order to create a more diverse system of contemporary art institutions in Hungary. The establishment of a Debrecen art faculty would definitely strengthen the city's social and […]
