Exhibition of Debrecen-born, Munkácsy Prize-winning Painter Opens

The opening of Gabriella Nagy's exhibition “Romanticism in Order" will be held at the Bényi Gallery on Thursday the 26th of September at 6:00 p.m.  Gabriella Nagy was born in Debrecen in 1968. She has a constantly renewed, yet consistently building, characterful painting practice, marked by significant solo exhibitions, public collection acquisitions and professional awards. Her paintings are characterised by masterly brushwork, open vision and perception, and reflected visuality. She explores reality through surreal elements and classical realist representation, incorporating existential theories and personal observation. Her works create sensual spectacles, evoking private stories and exploring new forms within the traditional landscape genre. The artist studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts from 1991 to 1996 and has since mastered traditional oil on canvas painting techniques. She won the Strabag Painting Prize and received a Lisbon scholarship from the Budapest Gallery. Her works are in collections of Strabag, Hungarian National Gallery, Déri Museum, and private collectors. She received the Munkácsy Award in 2004. Historical Exhibition Opened in Méliusz Juhász Péter Library

Exhibition titled "Brave Hajdú People, Rise Up -  anno 1848/1949" was opened in the first floor cloisters of Méliusz Juhász Péter Library. The exhibition presents the political communication of the period with the help of archival documents and press products. Among others, Lajos Kossuth's former manifesto as governor, letters of military freedom, a constitution issued by Franz Joseph I and a partial list of names of those sentenced to death in the War of Independence are on display in the framework of the exhibition. Additionally, the legacy of Dr. Samu Kardos, a former lawyer from Debrecen, preserved in the archives, invites visitors to a special journey through time with the help of contemporary flyers and wall stickers. Exhibition of Photographer Ouriel Morgensztern “Rendezvous in Vienna” Opened

The exhibition of 45 images by photographer Ouriel Morgensztern, entitled “Rendezvous in Vienna” presenting the holidays and everyday life of Viennese Jews, opened in the second floor cloisters of the Méliusz Juhász Péter Library. The opening of the exhibition, which was organised jointly by the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Institute of German Studies of the University of Debrecen and the Méliusz Library and is open free of charge until the 26th of October. Morgensztern was born in Paris, spent his childhood in the South of France, later lived in a kibbutz in Israel, then in New York, and finally settled in Vienna in the mid-2000s. A part of his family came from the territory of today's Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia, similar to Mark Rothko, considered the father of abstract expressionism. Morgensztern also dedicated a special series to Rothko's memory in another project. The artist first connected with the Jewish world through their parents' photo album, which lacked pictures of their grandparents and great-grandparents as many of his ancestors were murdered during the Holocaust. Observation of  the “Vibrations of the Soul” at Special Exhibition

An exhibition of the works of artist Ildikó Gabriella Nagy can be seen at the VOKE Cultural Centre of Understanding in Debrecen. The exhibition features 30 silk and acrylic paintings by the artist, created during her three-year stay in England. Ildikó Gabriella Nagy moved from Transylvania to Hungary  in 1990 with her sculptor husband and 3 children, who inherited their parents' artistic inclinations. She works in a variety of techniques: oil, acrylic, silk painting and linocuts. She tries to pass on her knowledge to the younger generation and to the elderly through courses and workshops. In 1977 he was awarded for her outstanding performance in Cluj Napoca. She has exhibited in America, England, Japan and other countries and in Debrecen her works decorate the walls of several buildings. The exhibition, titled “Vibrations of the Soul”, is on display until the 3rd of  November with free admission. Sehenswert Film Festival at Apollo Cinema

The 15th University Art Exhibition Opens

Organised by the Friendship Group of Kossuth Lajos University (KLTE), the 15th University Art Exhibition will open on Saturday, the 26th of October at 3.00 p.m. in the Life Sciences Gallery. President of the Friends of KLTE István Gaál, will give a welcome speech in the auditorium of the Life Sciences Centre, and the exhibition will be opened by Csokonai Prize-winning painter János Komiszár. The Monteverdi Choir of the University of Debrecen will perform, conducted by Ildikó Takács and István Pazár. The works were judged by János Komiszár and Imre Rácz. “Evoking the Past” Hologram Exhibition in Agora

The 125th anniversary of the birth of the inventor of holography, Nobel Prize-winning physicist-engineer Dénes Gábor, will be celebrated in 2025. To mark the occasion, the Novofer Foundation and the Agora Science Experience Centre have created a joint exhibition that takes us back in time, showcasing holograms that are 20-30 years old in terms of technology, but still timeless today.  Collected from around the world, the holographic works come from the estate of Dénes Gábor's former colleague, Professor Pál Greguss. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to get up close and personal with an important piece of Hungarian and universal technological history. The exhibition is a unique experience in the spirit of scientific education, as you can explore the holograms with a torch in your hand, illuminated from different angles and experimenting. The exhibition will be on display in the Agora's Interactive Space until the 15th of December 2024. Exhibition Titled “Colourful World” Opens in Villa Borsos

Ilona Pincse has travelled halfway around the world,  she has painter friends in Poland, Bulgaria and the US, but she also enjoys her time in the heart of the city. She is well known in the city, as she is often seen at local events and likes to post photos of them on her social networking site.  Soon she can be met in the company of her paintings, her exhibition will open on Wednesday the 6th of  November at 5.00 p.m.  at DEMKI Borsos Villa.  For her, nature, streams, hills and forests are very inspiring, just like the Great Forest  in Debrecen. The exhibition  “Colourful World” will be opened by institutional communicator (who is the daughter of the painter and likes to make ceramics), Olívia Szentirmay and a welcome speech will be given by graphic artist Sándor Gárdonyi. Treasures of Japanese Culture in Freedom Community Center
