Continuing and expanding the tradition started last year, La Dolce Vita Mediterranean Weekend will be held again on the 11th and the 12th of May, bringing the Mediterranean experience to the trees of the Great Forest with the park’s rich citrus and ivy collection, thematic programmes and authentic performers. On both days visitors can admire and with a quiz can learn about the outstanding citrus and ivy collection of the Zoo. The culture of Italy will be brought to life with a bumper-car race, Italian coffee, twisted ice cream, lemonade and freshly baked pizza at the gastro stalls, furthermore  retro posters, old Italian cars, Vespa bikes, and a Bambino cave for the little ones awaiting visitors. On Saturday the jurying and announcement of the results of the cake and pastry competition will take place. The Debrecen Animation Film Days are held for the first time. The event, called SKICC, will take place on the 17th  and the 18 of May at Apollo Cinema. The programme will include screenings of student films and round-table discussions. One of the main features of the first SKICC will be a screening of animated short films made by students from the Kós Károly and Medgyessy secondary schools. The schools will show a selection of their work from the last ten years. The films, typically between one and five minutes long, showcase a number of past and present students who have gone on to become highly respected in the profession.
