Eagle Day at Hortobágy

Hortobágyi Nemzeti Park Hortobágy, Petőfi tér 9, Debrecen, Hungary

On Hortobágy Eagle Day, organisers welcome visitors for a morning eagle ambush tour. The highly protected bald eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) is the largest bird of prey that nests in Hungary. The wingspan can exceed 2 metres and the weight of the egg can reach 4-5 kg. Hortobágy is also important for golden eagles wintering in the Carpathian Basin, so in winter the domestic nesting stock is enriched with wintering specimens coming from the north and northeast. The walking tour takes visitors to places where eagles are most likely to be seen during the day, with a pair of binoculars, can observe the eagles and with a bit of luck get a brief insight into their behaviour and feeding habits. Visitors can of course also learn about the winter wildlife in the ponds. Suitable clothing, waterproof shoes and binoculars are recommended. Kodály Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra awaits the audience for the next concert in the concert series conducted by permanent conductor Tibor Bényi on the 5th of March from 7.00 p.m. Programme: J. S. Bach: III (G major) "Brandenburg Concerto" BWV 1048 J. S. Bach: Piano Concerto in F minor, BWV 1056 / J. S. Bach: "Ich habe genug" BWV 82 - Church Cantata / J. S. Bach: Suite in D major, BWV 1068 Contributors: Dániel Somogyi-Tóth, Chief Music Director of the City of Debrecen - piano accompaniment, Daisy Laura Tarnóc - vocals Conductor: Tibor Bényi About the performance: As a result of the musical fashions of recent decades, the performance of almost the entire Baroque and Classical repertoire has been entrusted to specialists in the so-called early music ensembles. Bach, demonstrating that, for a valid interpretation, in addition to the knowledge of contemporary playing styles and phrasing, a performer's individuality and imagination are still required for valid interpretation.
