Exhibition “100 Years of Nature” in MODEM

The selection from the MBH Bank Collection, which dates back to the 1990s, will be shown for the first time in Debrecen. One of the most important issues for humanity in the 21st century is nature. How do we relate to this wonderful resource, how do we look after it, how do we help it to renew itself? The relationship with nature is multifaceted, it can be seen as the basis of life, as the raw material of civilization, as an aesthetic experience and as a higher universal connection. As a means of socialising art, MBH Bank aims to make its collection of works of art continuously available to the public throughout Hungary. In this way, emblematic pieces of art history do not disappear in the sink of a corporate collection, but remain part of the cultural fabric by becoming visible in the outstanding art institutions of major cities through curatorial concepts. The first step is the realisation of an exhibition at  MODEM in Debrecen. The exhibition will be opened by art historian Brigitta Muladi on the 14th of June at 7.00 p.m. Deputy CEO of MBH Bank András Puskás, and Executive Director of MODEM Kata Vizi will give a […]

Textile Sculptor’s Exhibition “Magic of the Moment” Comes to Debrecen

DAB Székház Thomas Mann u. 49., Debrecen, Hungary

The soon-to-open exhibition of textile sculptor Tímea Sz. Nagy focuses on the experience of "now". At the beginning of 2020, after a very successful exhibition, the country closed down almost immediately, leaving the artist a lot of time for reflection. Many, many works of art were created during this time, all around the theme of introspection, contemplation, silence and gratitude. For Tímea Sz.Nagy it is very important to live the present, to experience every single moment of the creative process, to feel and enjoy, to taste the magic, to absorb the experience that the creation gives... and to pass on its message. As she puts it so strongly, the focus of her forthcoming exhibition in Debrecen is on living the "now". The exhibition opens on the 19th of June at 4.30 p.m. at DAB Székház in Thomas Mann Street. President of the MTA DAB Club, professor István Rácz will give a toast at the event, which will be opened by art writer János Cs. Tóth with the participation of Anita Oláh playing the harp. Reformed College of Debrecen Kálvin tér 16, Debrecen, Hungary

The new exhibition of the Museum of the Reformed College of Debrecen was opened under the title “Golden Glass to the form of Debrecen” on the 21st of June. The exhibition includes masterpieces by three members of the Büttösi family. In the 18th century, István Büttösi, a master jeweller, and his two sons György and István also worked for the church.  The ornate chalices and bread bowls are not decorations, but are still used for worship and communion. The unique and priceless 300-year-old creations of the Büttös goldsmiths are on display together for the first time. “Many of the works are on display in churches. Here, too, about forty objects come from forty congregations, and these congregations use these beautiful, centuries-old objects. They don't see them as artistic treasures, but as an instrument linked to the Lord Jesus, to their Christian faith," the museum's director Dávid Csorba says.
