MBH Bank will manage the accounts of the Municipality of Debrecen and its institutions starting in April 2025. The parties signed the contract in Debrecen on January 31, 2025.
The Municipality of Debrecen selected the credit institution to provide cash flow and deposit management services through a tender. MBH Bank cooperates with numerous municipalities, and its municipal business line includes more than 1,200 account-managed municipalities and a further 3,100 related institutions and companies. Debrecen is of paramount importance to the bank, with four bank branches, several thousand retail and several hundred corporate clients in the region, and it is a member of the Hajdú-Bihar County Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It has been supporting local sports life with extensive cooperation for years.
The Municipality of Debrecen accepted MBH Bank’s offer in its tender to select the account manager bank. Within the cooperation framework, the bank provides modern, digitised financial services, including the smooth processing of payment transactions, unique account management solutions developed for municipal institutions, and fixed-term deposit options. The bank’s efficient financial solutions contribute to the daily operation of the Municipality and the maintenance of its economic stability.
“Debrecen is one of the engines of the country’s economy thanks to its location, infrastructure developments, and investments by large local companies. We are proud that a city with such outstanding economic potential has entrusted MBH Bank with its account management. The agreement was concluded under the auspices of our motto, “In Partnership with Local Governments,” and is therefore important for our bank not only because it adds one more city with county rights to our clientele but also because it helps our bank to expand our relations with the local economic ecosystem in Debrecen and thus actively contribute to the further economic growth of the City and the region,” as it was summed up the significance of the agreement by MBH Bank’s Deputy CEO responsible for state administration relations, local government and church services, communication, and ESG and sustainability András Puskás.
The credit institution has played an essential role in the life of Debrecen and its region for years. It has four branches in the city, where the bank’s retail, corporate, and local government clients receive expert assistance. In the credit institution’s Debrecen Agricultural Center, customers can directly access financial services and products related to agriculture. MBH Bank cooperates with more than 350 companies in the region. It is a member of the Hajdú-Bihar County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in line with its objective of supporting local businesses and economic development with its available means. In addition, it actively supports sports life in Debrecen, and through the cooperation of MBH Bank and DNS Ltd., which operates the stadium that hosts Debrecen VSC, and DVSC Football PLC, the colours of MBH Bank’s Private Banking business line are reflected in the interior of the Nagyerdei Stadium.
“Stable, reliable, professional, high-quality financial services are important for Debrecen. MBH Bank is the perfect partner for this. Debrecen is experiencing very intense economic development. The city, we can safely say, will become the new business centre of Hungary in the coming years. The industrial and economic development results have received serious recognition and attention not only in our country but also internationally, and of course, this has a serious impact on the life of the Debrecen municipality and the city. In this regard, it is reassuring for us that in the coming period, we will be able to cooperate with one of the largest and most professional financial institutions in Hungary. MBH Bank is present in the local government sphere and the city’s cultural and sports life. It supports several actions within the social responsibility framework,” Mayor of Debrecen László Papp emphasised in his speech.
