In recent years, many municipally owned buildings—nurseries, kindergartens, GP offices, and senior clubs—have undergone energy modernization in Debrecen using EU funds.

This program can continue, as the municipality’s applications submitted to the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Program Plus have been favorably evaluated.

  • The city won HUF 650 million for developing the Áchim András Street Nursery,
  • HUF 900 million for the development of the Áchim András Street Kindergarten,
  • HUF 230 million for the infrastructural development of the Debrecen City Social Service’s site at 41 Pósa Street,
  • HUF 950 million for developing the Varga Street Nursery and Lavender Kindergarten,
  • HUF 120 million for the development of the Kincseshegy Street GP office, and
  • HUF 500 million will be used for the development of the Angyalkert Kindergarten.

A 90 million HUF grant will be received to renovate the GP office at 54 Monostorpályi Street comprehensively.

In addition, the municipality has submitted several more applications to the TOP Plus call, which are still under evaluation. At the February meeting of the city council, it was also decided to apply the call titled Sustainable Human Developments, which included the launch of cycling, healthcare, and training programs.
