Another significant step in the construction of the Hungarian Transport Museum in Debrecen – The architectural design competition has started

The Municipality of Debrecen welcomes the official announcement made by the Ministry of Construction and Transport on June 30, 2025, regarding the launch of the architectural design competition for the construction of the Hungarian Transport Museum in Debrecen.

It is a significant step in the long-awaited creation of the museum, reinforcing Debrecen’s role in the cultural and tourism landscape of both the region and the country.

The publication of the architectural design competition marks another milestone in the project’s life. It aims to design a modern, innovative, and forward-looking architectural complex that will provide a worthy home for the Hungarian Transport Museum’s collection. As part of the competition, the most outstanding architectural firms will have the opportunity to envision a building that not only meets the functional needs of a museum but also stands out for its architectural quality, harmonises with its surroundings, and presents a unique appearance.

The Municipality of Debrecen remains fully committed to supporting the successful implementation of the project. It continues to work closely with the Ministry of Construction and Transport, as well as the selected designers, to achieve the common goal. The city’s leadership is prepared to actively participate in every phase of the investment and ensure the necessary conditions for smooth implementation. It will also participate in the jury that evaluates the submitted designs.
