Castle Park, one hour from Debrecen, undergoes large-scale renewal

Large-scale renovation and development works are starting in the park of the castle, located an hour’s drive from Debrecen.

With a gross bid of HUF 628 million, Parkertech Park- és Kertépítő Kft. from Debrecen won the public procurement tender that the NÖF National Heritage Protection Development Nonprofit Kft. had announced for the development of the garden of the Andrássy Castle in Tiszadob, according to the results announcement published in the Public Procurement Bulletin.

The tasks include, for example, the restoration and renovation of the pavements with appropriate slope conditions in order to ensure proper drainage of the existing walking paths and the repair of damage caused by surface rainwater, the development of drainage for road surfaces with a high slope angle, In addition, they have to thin the shrub layer, replace hedges and boundary shrubs, control weeds, plant additional trees for the long-term development of the tree population, replace plants in rose arbors, build a pre-grown ivy “green wall” along fences, and renew the rose bed and lawn areas in front of the castle; they also have to complete the construction of an automatic irrigation system.

Trees must also be planted around the café pavilion. In addition, the task will be to replace the existing street lighting columns and lighting fixtures in the outdated sections with the same products used in other areas of the park. In addition, public lighting must be installed along the embroidered parterre leading to the boat dock, as well as along the walkways connecting the café pavilion and the boat dock.

This will not be Parkertech’s first major project; they have greened the Millenáris Park and the Carmelite Monastery and renovated the Szabadság Square in Orosháza and the Makovecz Square in Makó.

The Andrássy Castle, located in Tiszadob, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, an hour’s drive from Debrecen, was built between 1880 and 1885. The reconstruction of the 2,700 square meter castle and park began in 2011 and was completed in June 2014, and it has been open to visitors since then.
