CATL’s New Battery Lasts Nearly 2 Million Kilometres
CATL has recently announced that its latest battery designed for electric vehicles retains 80 percent of its original capacity even after 1.8 million kilometers or 3,000 charging cycles, as noted by HVG citing a post by CarNewsChina.com.
The new type of battery is reported to promise a lifespan roughly six times longer than the industry average and perform well under extreme temperature conditions.
According to CATL, the battery offers a service life of 840,000 kilometers and 1,400 charging cycles even at a temperature of 60 degrees Celsius. The article adds that the development also stands out in terms of fast charging: under ideal conditions, it can be fully charged in as little as 12 minutes; however, it is not yet known when it will be installed in mass-produced electric vehicles.
