“Cívis Restaurant of the Year 2025” competition launched
Following last year’s successful competition, Cívis Ház Zrt. is pleased to announce the “Cívis Restaurant of the Year 2025” competition, which aims to further strengthen the gastronomic standard of Debrecen and recognise outstanding restaurants.
Which restaurant will conquer the gastronomic peak of Debrecen this year?
New this year, compared to the compared to the “Cívis Restaurant of the Year” competition, that restaurants operating in two separate sections can participate: in the catering with a hot kitchen category and in the cafés, patisseries, and breakfast places category.
Another novelty is that in addition to the tenants of Cívis Ház Zrt., other restaurants in Debrecen can also apply up to the specified number of participants.
The award of the “Cívis Restaurant of the Year” will be decided by a prestigious professional and social jury, and the public award for the “Cívis Restaurant of the Year” will be decided by the public in the form of an online vote.

The “Cívis Restaurant of the Year 2025” competition will be held between August 1 and 31, 2025.
The results will be announced in the second half of September.

Participating in the “Cívis Restaurant of the Year” competition provides professional status for participants, while the recognition of outstanding performance effectively supports the raising of interest and the increase in turnover.
The winners of the competition can win an honorable title that can contribute to the long-term success of their restaurant, as guests are increasingly consciously looking for places that offer recognized, quality gastronomic experiences. Overall, the competition contributes to boosting the gastronomic tourism of Debrecen, as the winning restaurants receive special attention in the press and on the online platforms of Cívis Ház Zrt.
During the professional competition, Cívis Ház Zrt. will name and introduce the participating restaurants in press releases and through social media.
The main prize of the competition, the bronze statue of Gyula Bethlen’s work, Women Holding a Globe (1911), will advertise the outstanding performance of the winning restaurant for a year. The original sculpture group adorns the building on Iparkamara Street, which serves as the headquarters of Cívis Ház Zrt. and is one of the iconic symbols of Debrecen, clearly visible from many points in the city.

The 2024 Cívis Restaurant of the Year title was first won by IKON Restaurant in Debrecen, which won the jury and guests’ recognition with its modern fine bistro concept, sophisticated flavors, and first-class service.
As a result of the public vote, the 2024 Cívis Restaurant of the Year Audience Award went to The Macaron Bites, which won the hearts of guests with its special pastries and high-quality ingredients.
