Debrecen Airport issued a statement
Debrecen International Airport informed that two incidents have occurred in recent days that may have caused inconvenience to passengers.
Wizz Air flight – Cyprus
On June 7 (Saturday), Wizz Air’s Operations Centre (OCC) notified the airport that the flight from Cyprus to Debrecen could not be launched due to a technical problem.
Instead, a relief plane was sent from Budapest, which took the passengers to Cyprus with minimal delay. On the return trip, however, Wizz Air diverted the flight to Budapest for operational reasons. The passengers were transported from Budapest to Debrecen by bus.
Itaka Hungary – Antalya charter flight
The first charter flight of the Itaka Hungary travel agency to Antalya was also delayed. On Sunday, the empty Tailwind flight from Antalya was diverted to Košice, citing bad weather in Debrecen.
The working hours of the aircraft crew in Košice expired, so the airline decided to fly to Debrecen on Monday and then depart for Turkey at 12:50 p.m., but the captain indicated that he could only transport almost half of the luggage, citing weight restrictions.
The airport team cannot confirm the justification for this, so the decision was received with confusion by Debrecen Airport.
The airlines and the Itaka Hungary travel agency can provide detailed information about further information about the events.
“The Debrecen International Airport team apologises to all our passengers on their behalf for the inconvenience caused by the airlines and thanks them for their patience and understanding. Our employees did everything possible to ensure that the passengers of the affected flights reach their destinations as quickly and safely as possible,” the airport’s statement concludes.
