Debrecen airport traffic will be closed for four days due to runway maintenance
The high temperatures experienced over the Pentecost weekend led to the decision to carry out preventive maintenance. Six flights are affected.
Debrecen International Airport confirms that preventive maintenance will be carried out on the airport runway between 11:30 a.m. on 30 June and 4:00 p.m. on 3 July.
The aim of the work is to ensure the long-term smooth operation of the airport infrastructure and to continuously improve the condition of the runway. The most important task of airport staff is to ensure the safety of passengers, and preventive maintenance is therefore an essential step in maintaining safe air traffic.
During runway maintenance, specialists carry out thorough inspections and, where necessary, renovations to ensure that the airport always offers its passengers the highest level of service.
During the work, the airport will be closed to traffic.
Airport staff chose this time to carry out the work because the heat experienced over the Pentecost weekend foreshadowed the runway damage that occurred last summer.
In anticipation of this, the planned works will be carried out with as few flights affected as possible, avoiding an ad-hoc one-week closure like last year.
