Debrecen animal welfare activists also won in state tender
“Almost all organizations, 433 out of 450 applicants, won the tender that was announced for NGOs working in the field of animal protection with a budget of HUF 1 billion,” as announced by Péter Ovádi, the government commissioner responsible for the development and implementation of the animal protection action plan.
In his opinion, this is a huge step forward, as this will allow numerous shelters and rescue centers across the country to implement developments and investments, and more resources will be available for the sterilization and healthcare of animals.
“I am proud that in four years we have been able to provide more than HUF 2.5 billion in support to animal protection organizations. Within the framework of the Hungarian Village Program, an additional HUF 500 million is available to support neutering, and HUF 50 million has been specifically allocated for sterilizing cats,” he added.
Among the larger animal protection organizations in Debrecen that also operate shelters, the Puli Animal Protection Association and the Bodolai Ferenc: Show a Paw Foundation both won HUF 3.25 million, and the Together for Animals Animal Protection Non-Profit Association won HUF 2.35 million.
