Debreceni Vagyonkezelő Zrt. (Debrecen Asset Management Company) can look back on a successful year. It closed 2024 with a consolidated profit of HUF 1.9 billion. CEO Virág Marossy emphasised that the holding company’s goal is not to make a profit but primarily to support the operations of its member companies.
CEO of Debreceni Vagyonkezelő Zrt., Virág Marossy, said at a press conference on Wednesday that the company has generated significant revenue from the sale of industrial parks in recent years. Thanks to this, they have achieved outstanding results, but they also have plans for the future. “We are looking for other activities that can help move the city of Debrecen forward. A few weeks ago, we announced at another press conference that we had put a prepared, ten-hectare area dedicated to the development of the Tócóvölgy residential area on the market. We also expect revenue from this that can help our operations in 2025.”
There are also member companies that receive compensation support to finance their operating costs due to the nature of their activities. One example is DKV Zrt. (Debrecen public transport company), which received compensation support of HUF 9 billion last year. A significant portion of the sales revenue is comprised of dividends paid by member companies. A.K.S.D Kft. ( Debrecen Waste Management Company), in which the asset manager owns 49 percent, paid a dividend of HUF 500 million. Last year, the most significant payment came from Cívis Ház Zrt., where more than HUF 930 million in dividends were generated. The four pillars of the company’s scope of activity are social housing management, business leasing, and office and real estate utilisation. The company celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. “We are proud that we managed to realise an operating profit of approximately HUF 1 billion from a sales revenue of HUF 3 billion. From this operating profit of HUF 1 billion, dividends of over HUF 930 million were generated, which play a role in financing the group of companies. What I am also very proud of is that we managed to achieve all this with about forty people,” we heard CEO Edit Erdei.
Following the new water utility law introduced in January 2024, the revenue of Debreceni Vízmű Zrt. (Debrecen Waterworks) has also increased, as they were able to enforce higher water fees towards market participants. Last year, 19.8 million cubic meters of water were produced from water bases, and 17.5 million cubic meters of wastewater were collected and treated. Last year, the company’s after-tax profit was HUF 47 million, employing approximately 500 employees. The company provides services to a total of 305 thousand users. “By introducing the increase in water and sewer fees for the non-residential segment and standardising this nationwide, there were water utility companies that became more profitable, and there were those that were less profitable. Debreceni Vízmű Zrt. was classified as the more profitable category. For this reason, we have contributed an additional HUF 2.9 billion to maintain the operability of the Hungarian water utility systems,” CEO Ferenc Gorján explained.
Debrecen Vagyonkezelő is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. On this occasion, programmes are being organised through which city residents can learn about the operations of the member companies.
