Developing a digital animal conservation map in Debrecen
Animal welfare officer Edina Szilágyi asks the people of Debrecen to help make the database as accurate as possible.
Edina Szilágyi, Debrecen’s animal protection officer, said in Debrecen Television’s programme “Evening Close-up” that the process that prepared the tightening of the animal protection law began in 2021.
As she said, “This is a big step forward, a series of steps that everyone is waiting for and supporting.” She added that it is also proof that the voices of NGOs working in the field of animal protection are being heard, which is what she is trying to do in his work.
“I never take any action, I never decide on any issue without consulting them because I think they are the most important. They are on the ground, they see what the problems are, they point out where we can help. I am very happy that we have a very good cooperation,” she said.
In the programme she said that there are more and more dog runs in the city, and dogs can now travel for free on DKV trains, but there are also new measures to be taken.
“I want to create an animal protection map. A digital platform with all kinds of useful information, from animal hospitals to veterinary surgeries, emergency services, dog runs, dog-friendly places, pet food shops and chip-reading points,” Edina Szilágyi announced.
The animal welfare officer also said that she already has a database that is constantly growing, but she is asking the owners and operators of the places concerned to send her the information at allatvedelem@debrecen.hu
