Eve Energy, also present in Debrecen, is building a solid-state battery factory
Eve Energy has announced that it will begin construction in the city of Chengdu, China. The plant will be built to manufacture the company’s “Longquan II” all-solid-state battery cells, with the first phase of the project scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.
e-cars.hu reported that the 11,000 square meter facility will be capable of producing 500,000 cells per year at full capacity. The construction will take place in two phases: the first phase will be completed by December 2025, when production of 60 Ah batteries can begin, and the second phase will be completed in December 2026, when the plant will provide an annual production capacity of 100 MWh.
According to the company, this investment is a key milestone in the industrial-scale serial production of solid-state batteries. Eve’s ambitious plans include reaching 400 Wh/kg and 1000 Wh/L energy densities for solid-state batteries by 2025. A year later, from 2026, production of cells for hybrid vehicles can also begin.
The “Longquan II” 10 Ah solid-state batteries to be manufactured in Chengdu offer energy densities of up to 300 Wh/kg or 700 Wh/L. The manufacturer intends these cells for humanoid robots, low-altitude drones, and high-end AI devices.
Eve Energy is expanding not only in China but also abroad.
In 2024, a battery factory investment was launched in Coventry, UK, which was implemented at a rapid pace, and the Debrecen factory is also progressing according to schedule.
This clearly shows that Chinese battery manufacturers are placing increasing emphasis on solid-state technology.
In the summer of 2024, Eve achieved an important milestone: their cylindrical cells reached a charging speed of 6C, which was a breakthrough in the field of ultra-fast charging.
It was also announced this summer that EVE Energy and BMW have developed safe and fast-charging batteries, and EVE Energy’s Shenyang factory has officially started operations. Global companies that are also present in Debrecen and are pioneers in the field of electromobility have joined forces.
EVE Power (which was founded in 2012 as a subsidiary of Eve Energy and has become a dominant player in the global market over the past decade) announced in May 2023 that it would establish a plant in the Northwest Economic Zone, which also houses the BMW plant. The company has achieved significant milestones in its investment in Debrecen, paving the way for environmentally conscious battery production.
As a supplier to the BMW Group Factory Debrecen, they will produce cylindrical battery cells for the new generation of electric cars.
