2025 could be a historic year for Hungarian tennis! If the national team defeats Austria, they will secure a spot in the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna.

The Davis Cup Qualifiers are a key stage in the international men’s tennis competition known as the Davis Cup, often referred to as the “World Cup of Tennis.” The Qualifiers are a series of matches (called “ties”) where national teams compete for a place in the Davis Cup Finals — the elite stage of the tournament featuring the world’s top 16 teams.

After a sensational 3–2 victory over world No. 3 Canada, Hungary has advanced to the top 16 teams in the Davis Cup World Group — a feat achieved only once before since the tournament’s format change, back in 2020, also in Debrecen, when they triumphed over Belgium.

The Hungarian team is expected to field its strongest line-up. The captain, Kornél Bardóczky, one of the most experienced players in the history of the Hungarian Davis Cup, can also count on the participation of Fábián Marozsán, Márton Fucsovics and Zsombor Piros.
