MCC Debrecen Training CenterOn September 16, MCC Debrecen TrainingCenter will present a lecture in German titled “Antisemitism in Europe Today”.
Description:
Antisemitism in today’s Europe is not a problem of the past – it reappears again and again, partly in an open and partly in a more hidden form. In recent years, the number of antisemitic incidents has increased noticeably in many European countries – especially at demonstrations and on social media.
Jewish communities increasingly report insecurity and threats in the public space. The conflict in the Middle East often acts as a catalyst, amplifying antisemitic sentiments.
Antisemitism manifests itself not only in violence or physical attacks, but also in deep-rooted stereotypes, conspiracy theories and calls for boycotts. Effective action requires a clear political position, decisive measures and comprehensive educational and awareness-raising work.
The European Union and several Member States have developed strategies to combat anti-Semitism – however, their implementation and effectiveness vary. The protection of Jewish life in Europe is not only a security issue, but also a touchstone for democracy, the rule of law and social cohesion.
The speaker at the event is German-Israeli writer and journalist, Chaim Noll, whose work explores Jewish identity, history, and contemporary challenges.
