MCC Debrecen Training CenterProtecting life is a fundamental value in all circumstances. The lecture aims to make us think about how we respond to suffering, vulnerability, and the difficult questions surrounding the end of life. It is increasingly common to hear that euthanasia can be a “humane” solution—but does it truly serve the dignity of life? The lecture presents in an accessible way why it is important to stand up for human life even when the situation is painful and complex. It will discuss the real ways in which suffering can be alleviated without compromising the value of human life. The aim is to reinforce the message that human dignity lies not in ending life, but in persevering with it.
Lecturer: Rabbi Dr Fishel Szlajen, Visiting Fellow at MCC; Full Professor and Senior Researcher in Bioethics, Ethics and Public Policy at the University of Buenos Aires; Full Member of the National Bioethics Commission of Argentina
The presentation will be in English.
The event is free to attend, but registration by 12:00 04th March, 2026, is required.
Everyone interested in this important and timely topic is warmly welcome.
