The Debrecen Symphonic Band is a wind orchestra that plays a significant role in training brass, woodwind, and percussion students at the University of Debrecen. The band's main task is to support the conducting practice of students participating in the unique master's program in conducting and wind orchestra at the University of Debrecen. The band's repertoire includes historical Hungarian marches, contemporary Hungarian works, as well as notable international wind orchestra pieces and their arrangements. Hot Paprika Comedy and MODEM await the audience to English Stand-Up Comedy with Stephen Grant organised on the 8th of March starting from 8.00 p.m. at MODEM Centre of Modern Art. A repeat award winner of Best UK Compere, Stephen Grant is one of the hardest working comedy performers and writers in the UK. He is the host of the Krater Comedy Club at Komedia, which has won Best Comedy Venue in the South for an unprecedented number of times and is a regular headliner at The Comedy Store in Leicester Square. His speed and dynamism create a magical energy which has audiences rapt and hanging onto his every word. It led Stephen to writing for Rob Beckett on Mock the Week and for writing for Russell Kane on Live at the Electric, as well as for Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show for Avalon TV and Seann Walsh for Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Week. Exhibition entitled “Metamorphosis” in Kálvin Gallery of the Reformed Great Church

Gábor Kustár's exhibition entitled “Metamorphosis”  opened  on the 10th of  March in  Kálvin Gallery of the Reformed Great Church.  The artist is a pastor and teacher in his everyday life, and now shows his sculptures in this sacred space. The sculptor describes his work as a wrestling between matter and spirit, to create a unique blend of both. Through the special exhibition the rotten wood, the rusty iron also come to life. MODEM Art Center awaits visitors to join the English guided tour with Edward Kovács at the exhibition titled The Image of Color, the Mystery of Image on the 12th of March at 5:00 p.m.  About the exhibition: The Image of Colour, the Mystery of Image, presents a comprehensive selection of monochrome paintings from the Antal-Lusztig Collection. This collection is recognised as one of the most significant private collections in Hungary, and a major group of works from it have been deposited in the museums of Debrecen. Focusing on the tradition of exhibiting works from the Antal-Lusztig Collection, this selection comprises several hundred national and international works. Dr. Péter Antal, the owner, began his acquisition of monochrome paintings in the mid-2000s, and the collection of more than five hundred works constitutes a separate segment of his collection. Over the past decades, a selection of these monochrome works has been featured in several exhibitions in Hungary and abroad.  The current exhibition, featuring selected works from the monochrome segment of the Antal-Lusztig Collection, is organised into seven + one separate units. Concert of  Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra entitled Romeos and Juliets awaits the audience on the 12th of March at 7.00 p.m. in Kölcsey Centre. The programme of the event is as follows: Berlioz: Romeo and Juliet, op.17 (orchestral excerpts)  Tchaikovsky: Romeo and Juliet verture fantasy Bernstein: Symphonic Dances from West Side Story Romeo and Juliet, a well-known love story, has roots in antiquity and is mentioned in Dante's Divine Comedy. Hector Berlioz's dramatic symphony, created in 1839, evokes the mood, emotional content, and key scenes of the story in musical form. Berlioz's structural and musical solutions resemble Beethoven, with singing soloists and a chorus performing without operatic tasks. The piece follows an order of items: Introduction, Love Scene, Queen Mab's scherzo, and Romeo alone with the Capulets. Tchaikovsky's Overture Fantasia, a romantic grand orchestral work, explores the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet. The work, which was first created in 1869, was revised multiple times, ultimately reaching its final version in 1880. The score showcases Tchaikovsky's genius in form, melodic invention, and colourful arrangements. Screening of “Youth” in Original Language at Apollo Cinema

Free film club organised by BIKSZ (Imre Bán Cultural Studies College), Apollo Cinema and Mozinet awaits the audience for the screening of Italian-Swiss-English French co-production Youth (2015) by Paolo Sorrentino on the 13th of March from 6.00 p.m. The film will be screened in the original language with Hungarian subtitles, and after the screening university lecturer and film aesthete Anna Kata Váró and philosopher and journalist Csaba Gaál, will discuss the film with the audience.
