This year's International Military Music Festival will be awaiting its audience in Debrecen's main square with spectacular performances by ten foreign and two Hungarian companies between the 3rd  and the 6th of July. Hungary will be represented by the Hungarian Defence Forces Debrecen Garrison Orchestra and the Hungarian Defence Forces Central Orchestra, while the international line-up will include the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, the Netherlands, Italy, Egypt, Romania and Poland. The festival is organised every two years by the Ministry of Defence and the Municipality of Debrecen, and this year with almost 600 musicians participating. Few people know that the roots of this celebration of our historical heritage go back to the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence, when the horn and drum musicians of the newly formed armies played an important role in inspiring the newly formed armies to fight. And the military bands were everywhere, where they could pour hope and faith into the fighting soldiers and the civilian population. During the first weekend in July,  a short guided tour will be organised to get to know these fascinating ungulates, to learn about the history, lifestyle, behaviour of these fascinating animals and other wildlife in the park.  The dates of the guided tours:6-7 July: 11.00 a.m.  and 1.00 p.m. An optional programme of the wildlife park is also the extra safari by jeep, during which you can visit the pasture of the harem of wild horses and  reconstructed ancient bulllocks. “The Great Church in Love” programme series awaits visitors between the 9th of July and the 19th of  August. On Tuesdays throughout a joint discovery walk  participants can learn about the past and present of the Great Church and Debrecen, and even receive a surprise gift. During the series (repeated every Tuesday), the programme is available with a museum-educational ticket, no pre-registration required.  On Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in July and August, the Great Church at sunset programme awaits the lovers of experiences. Within the programme visitors can enjoy the sunset from a height of 40 metres between the two towers and a visit to the church. The guided tour includes the tour of the church, the permanent and temporary exhibitions and the attic, and a panoramic walkway where visitors over 18 can taste the wine of the Great Church (Mészáros Wine Cellar/Red Kadarka and Rosé,  non-alcoholic alternative grape juice). The most awaited festival of the year, the Hortobágy Horse Equestrian will be held for the 56th time. The only classic amusement park in Hungary celebrates the Day of the Little Railway on the second Saturday of July, and this year, in keeping with and expanding this tradition, it will offer all-day unlimited experiences and thematic programmes with the participation of numerous contributors on the 13th and the 14th of July.
