Hungarian artist wins silver medal at prestigious music competition in Debrecen
Hungarian success at the 3rd Kodály Zoltán International Music Competition: trumpeter Vanyó Karsa came second in a field of 110 young talents from 26 countries. Brass players competed in the prestigious competition.
18-year-old Vanyó Karsa was the most successful Hungarian competitor at the Kodály Zoltán International Music Competition. The young talent, who will only finish his secondary school studies next year, won the beautifully shiny silver medal.
“Everyone performed very well; I still can’t believe I even made it to the finals,” the young artist commented.
The international competition was won by German trumpeter Sandro Hirsh. Competitors came from the United States, China, and Japan to compete. This also shows that the Debrecen competition has earned a reputation in music circles in just a few years.
“Based on the professional feedback, I can confidently say that this event has a right to exist among international competitions. It was a great pleasure for us that once again more than a hundred applications were received from all over the world,” chairman of the organising committee of the Kodály Zoltán International Music Competition Dávid Zsoldos highlighted.
In his welcome speech, Deputy Mayor István Puskás said, “Debrecen has centuries-old traditions in the field of music education. This has been reinforced by the Kodály Zoltán International Music Competition since 2022. It reinforces the city’s ambitions to become an internationally visible centre of culture, including music.”
Debrecen will host the prestigious music competition again in two years. In 2027, woodwind talents will be able to compare their skills in front of a jury of experts.
