Many children in Debrecen can be inspired by the joy of music
The ” Instrument in Hand!” programme visited Debrecen for the fourth time. This time the focus is on instruments for popular music.
Following the guidance (“Let music be for everyone!”) of Zoltán Kodály, the students of the Bárczi Gusztáv school took possession of the instrumental playground for the first time.
As part of the ” Instrument in Hand!” programme, visitors not only had the chance to try out everything, but also listened to interesting music history lectures. This was the fourth time the programme had visited Debrecen. This year, the focus is specifically on popular music.
The genre has been part of Debrecen’s life for more than six decades. Nowadays, the Municipality of Debrecen helps young people to try their hand at the genres of popular music.
“Our project “Zenedoboz” offers secondary school students a mini rehearsal place in a different school every year. We also have a support programme to help start-up orchestras in Debrecen,” Deputy Mayor István Puskás said. The “Instrument in the Hand” is not only an event that aims to encourage people of all ages to make music, but also the opening event of the Kölcsey Centre 2025.
“Our goal is to fill the Kölcsey Centre with life. This will start at the beginning of the year, as 1600 children have registered for this programme”, Zita Dobos, Managing Director of the event organiser Főnix Rendezvényszervező, emphasised. Those interested in light music are welcome at the Kölcsey Centre until Thursday.School groups will be welcomed in the morning and early afternoon, and families will be able to enjoy the interactive space.
The event is free for everyone. More details can be found on the programme’s community page.
