Music and literature meet at the Térey Book Festival in September
This September, the Térey Book Festival returns to Debrecen, organised by the Méliusz Juhász Péter Library with the support of the city.
The book festival awaits visitors from September 10 to 14 this year at the Déri Museum and the Méliusz Juhász Péter Library.
This year’s festival centers on the connection between poetry and music, paying tribute to János Térey, the acclaimed poet who passed away in 2019. His diverse musical inspirations, from Wagner to Depeche Mode and Lana Del Rey, will be explored through performances, discussions, and exhibitions.
The central theme explores the connection between music and literature, inviting visitors into Térey’s musical world, which spans from classical to contemporary—from Wagner to Depeche Mode and Lana Del Rey.
Highlights include:
- Celebrating two renowned literary scholars: Zoltán Bertha (turning 70) and Béla Márkus (turning 80)
- A fresh interpretation of the poetry of Éva Stetka, a poet with a tragic fate
- A new artistic legacy for the library, thanks to József Tasnádi, who is donating part of his artwork to the institution
The detailed programme will be announced soon, more information and updates can be found at the festival’s official channels.
