New City Hall Gallery hosts 50th anniversary exhibition of the Tiszta Forrás Embroidery Circle
An anniversary exhibition entitled “Fifty Years of the Tiszta Forrás Embroidery Circle” opened at the New Town Hall Gallery (Ú jVárosháza Galéria) on December 4, 2025.
At the opening, Deputy Mayor István Puskás remarked that embroidery, which is a very important tradition in Hungarian folk culture, is by no means a forgotten part of the past, but rather a living presence among us today. He added that the community is being celebrated for fifty years of dedication to keeping this far‑reaching and beautiful tradition alive in the present and ensuring its place in the future.
He noted that the occasion is both everyday and festive: while the City Hall is usually visited for administrative purposes, the Gallery offers an excellent opportunity to make culture part of daily life and to connect with the city’s identity and its many elements.
“I am glad that embroidery has become part of this series of exhibitions, showing how important it is to our traditions. For our ancestors, and still for many of us today, embroidery represents an element of everyday life in our households. A tradition in which beauty and craftsmanship are present in a way that is strongly linked to the holiday but at the same time has the beauty of being part of everyday life,” he highlighted. He added that in this exhibition the festive occasion and everyday life meet in many ways, and the displayed pieces help prepare for the upcoming holiday during Advent.
The exhibition can be visited until January 11, 2026, during the opening hours of the New City Hall.
