New electric garbage trucks have started operating in Debrecen
Debrecen has taken another significant step toward becoming a greener city with the introduction of new electric garbage trucks into its municipal fleet. The initiative is part of the city’s broader commitment to sustainability and green mobility.
Deputy Mayor Ákos Balázs announced the development in a Facebook post, highlighting the importance of the new vehicles in achieving the goals outlined in Debrecen’s Green Codex. “These electric garbage trucks play a crucial role in increasing the number of electric vehicles and promoting environmentally friendly transportation,” he stated.
Balázs also emphasised that Debrecen had already achieved top results in the European Green Capital competition, and this latest advancement further solidifies its leadership in sustainable urban development. “With this development, Debrecen can further strengthen its leading position,” he added.
The deployment of electric garbage trucks is expected to reduce emissions, noise pollution, and operational costs.
