Open day promoting healthy lifestyles to be held this weekend
The University of Debrecen’s Sport Diagnostics, Lifestyle and Therapy Centre (SET Centre) invites everyone interested in a healthier lifestyle to an interactive open day on Saturday, October 18, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Nagyerdei Stadium.
At the open day, specialists will support those who have chosen—or are considering—a sporty lifestyle with free lectures, assessments, dietary and movement therapy consultations, and demonstrations of rehabilitation equipment, according to dehir.hu
The announcement highlights that the open day is recommended for anyone who wishes to live health-consciously. Hobby and recreational athletes can learn about services that help assess their current condition, such as body composition and endurance testing, Dr. Sándor Szántó, medical director of SET, said.
“They can identify musculoskeletal deviations that may pose a risk for injury during sports, even if they currently cause no symptoms. By monitoring these characteristics, they can gain insight into the positive effects of regular exercise and improve their athletic performance. In case of acute sports injuries or overuse-related issues, recovery can be supported through movement therapy and instrumental physiotherapy (laser, ultrasound, electrical treatment, shockwave therapy),” the professor explained.
Participants can also learn essential stretching and foam rolling techniques for injury prevention, and try out recovery-enhancing tools like the cryosauna or lymphatic massage.
The open day also welcomes those planning to make movement a part of their daily lives or considering a lifestyle change. For them, the SET Centre recommends individual or group movement therapy to prepare for regular recreational sports, which can be complemented by dietary advice and low-impact exercise (such as running on an anti-gravity treadmill).
SET’s physicians and physiotherapists will give free educational lectures throughout the day, covering topics from the health benefits of sports to dietetics and the latest movement therapy methods.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the most advanced diagnostic, therapeutic, and developmental tools used in the training of Olympic athletes, with the help of SET experts.
The youngest visitors are not forgotten either: children accompanying their parents will be introduced to the joy of movement through playful activities.
