Over 25 secondary schools are to be showcased next week in Debrecen
In addition to the secondary school stands, there will also be roundtable discussions on the benefits of language learning, the connections between knowledge and success, and the unique characteristics of Debrecen secondary schools.
Last year, the secondary schools of the school district and the vocational training center presented themselves at the SuliFórum event (School Forum), but this year the circle is expanding: university and church-run secondary schools in Debrecen are also joining the program to support further education.
The organizers are counting on graduating elementary school students who are about to make a decision, as well as those who have already chosen which secondary school they will continue their studies at.
“This event will try to provide assistance to both groups on Monday and Tuesday next week, and the members of the student council are preparing in an excellent way with a wide variety of programs,” emphasized László Türk, director of the Debrecen School District Center.
As a new element, the student council of the school district is also organizing roundtable discussions: there will be discussions about language learning and the connections between knowledge and success, and young people will also be able to learn about the unique characteristics of Debrecen secondary schools.
At the Suliválasztó event (School Choice), students will present their secondary schools to those interested.
“This will allow students who are about to choose a career to get a reliable picture of what secondary school options they can choose from in the coming years,” emphasized Tünde Vargáné Szabadka, general director of the Károly Kós Secondary School of Arts, Technical School, and Dormitory.
Fórum Debrecen is a committed supporter of initiatives that help young people and their career choices, hosting the School Choice for the seventh time.
“We hope that this tradition will continue, as there will always be new students—secondary school students, elementary school students—and if we can help a little, we are very happy to do so,” said Ajtony Átányi, center manager of Fórum Debrecen.
After the two-day event, addressing eighth-grade students and their parents in Debrecen and the county, an open day will be held in all Debrecen secondary schools in November.
