Taxi service revamped in Debrecen: 555 Taxi and Uber make travel more modern together

A new era begins in urban transport in Debrecen as 555 Taxi, the legal successor of the former City Taxi, has entered into a strategic partnership with F Mobilitás Kft., the official Uber partner in Hungary. The transformation aims to provide the city’s residents and visitors with comfortable and transparent ride ordering services that meet 21st-century expectations.

As Uber’s partner, 555 Taxi combines the experience and flexibility of a local provider with the advanced technology of an international platform. The new system allows people in Debrecen to use Uber’s world-class app, while rides continue to be carried out by licensed local drivers.

According to company leadership, the decision is intended to modernize the market and improve customer experience. Their goal is for passengers to reach their destinations more quickly, safely, and flexibly. The name change from City Taxi to 555 Taxi Debrecen symbolizes renewal and dynamism while strengthening the brand’s local connection and representing modern international standards.

One of the most noticeable new features is that in Debrecen, you can now order a taxi through Uber’s mobile app. In the app, passengers can see their route in advance, the estimated fare, as well as the driver’s and vehicle’s information. At the end of the ride, they can rate the service — this ensures continuous quality control. Meanwhile, 555 Taxi’s own app and their familiar phone number (52/555-555) remain in operation, so users can choose whichever way they prefer to order. As for payment, there are multiple options: bank card, in-app payment, or cash.

A key to the partnership is preserving reliability. 555 Taxi continues to work only with licensed professional drivers who go through a rigorous selection process. The vehicles are regularly inspected, and the rating system helps ensure the highest quality. Passengers will be supported 24/7 by a dispatcher service. This is complemented by Uber’s online customer service, offering fast and efficient problem-solving.

According to the company, this change is not about abandoning the trusted quality, but about developing it. “For decades, our passengers have counted on us. This renewal is a forward-looking step: familiar drivers and local experience come together with the world’s most advanced technology,” the company leadership emphasized.
