The Debrecen Job Fair offered more than 500 Career Opportunities

Nearly thirty exhibitors and more than five hundred open positions awaited visitors at the Hajdú-Bihar Napló Job Fair. The main aim of the event is to create direct connections between companies and job seekers.

Automotive, pharmaceutical and logistics positions – just a few examples from the more than 500 career opportunities that this year’s Napló Job Fair offered to those interested. At the event, job seekers could personally ask questions to representatives of the exhibiting companies and learn about employment opportunities in the region.

“I am looking for an intellectual position in coordination or administration. I speak several languages, I have a degree in German studies specialising in German, but I also have a qualification in graphic design, and I am currently training to become a coach, so I am open to quite a lot of things and I trust that I might come across a good opportunity,” said Adrienn Molnár.

Nearly thirty companies attended the job fair, but recruitment agencies and representatives of the law-enforcement services were also present. The main goal of the event remains unchanged year after year: to create connections between employers and job seekers.

“We have to be very selective with applicants, because we deal with custom machine manufacturing, so skilled technical work is particularly characteristic at our company. At the moment we are mainly looking for engineers,” said Jutta Pallagi-Pálinkás, HR generalist at Harro Höfliger Hungary Kft.

Debrecen’s economy has been developing spectacularly for years, with more and more companies settling in the city. Mayor László Papp highlighted that one of the most important achievements of the past 10 to 12 years is that, outside the capital, the country’s largest labour market has developed in Debrecen, accompanied by a very strong economy.

“In Debrecen, the labour market looks like this: employers compete for employees and not the other way round, which is an extremely favourable situation from the employees’ point of view. Alongside this, the average wage is increasing above the national average in Debrecen, precisely thanks to the labour market situation,” said László Papp.

The event welcomed not only those looking for work, but also people who wished to learn a new profession. They could explore the training programmes offered by the vocational training centres of Debrecen and Berettyóújfalu.
