The first member of the BMW Neue Klasse model family, the BMW iX3, will premiere on Friday
During a pre-event at the Munich Motor Show, this Friday at 11.00 a.m., the world will get its first live look at the BMW iX3, the debut model of the Neue Klasse family; the vehicle, which is being manufactured at BMW’s cutting-edge plant in Debrecen. The car will be on display to the public at the Munich Motor Show, which starts next week on Tuesday. The Debrecen plant is expected to begin full-scale production later this year.
The BMW Group Plant in Debrecen already has more than two thousand employees
Recruitment has recently begun for the launch of the second shift, and they have also announced how much production workers can expect to earn.
In addition to production roles, they are hiring for other positions as well. The continuously updated list of currently open job opportunities and the application platform can be found at https://www.bmwgroup.jobs/hu/hu.html. Currently, applications are being accepted for 53 positions.
Recently, another hundred students joined the BMW Group Plant Debrecen’s Dual Vocational Training Program, bringing the total to 300 young people from Debrecen now studying at the facility.
Not a New Chapter, but a New Book
According to BMW executives, the Neue Klasse is not just a new chapter in the company’s history—it’s a whole new book. Some automotive journalists even claim that the future of the German automotive industry is at stake at the Debrecen BMW plant.
“The Neue Klasse model generation is characterized above all by greater range, faster vehicle charging, brand-new display and vehicle control technology, and the combined intelligence of four supercomputers. With the upcoming BMW iX3—celebrating its world premiere as the first representative of the new generation—we are showcasing fundamental technological developments that will elevate the authentic BMW driving experience to an entirely new level,” said Mike Reichelt, head of the department overseeing the development of the Neue Klasse model generation.
“With the all-new BMW iX3, we are launching our revolutionary technologies into series production for the first time, and we’re very much looking forward to seeing the model on the roads. All future BMW models will benefit from the innovations and technological arsenal of the Neue Klasse—regardless of the type of drivetrain technology,” he added.
New Technologies:
- BMW Panoramic iDrive Display and Vehicle Control Technology: Focused entirely on the driver, setting a new benchmark in ergonomics and safety.
- Faster Charging, Greater Range: The sixth-generation BMW eDrive drivetrain technology (Gen6)
- Engineers have completely rethought the high-voltage battery concept for the sixth generation of BMW eDrive powertrain technology (Gen6), which now offers an optimized solution in every segment with an enhanced all-electric powertrain portfolio. Gen6 is celebrating its world premiere in the BMW iX3 and will gradually be introduced in all segments.
- Among others, the BMW iX3 offers user-friendly charging features, including an intelligent charging door that automatically opens and closes when the car arrives at a known or predicted charging point. The car also features bidirectional functions for charging to vehicle charging points, connected smart homes, and the electricity grid.
- “Heart of Joy” Central Computer + BMW Dynamic Performance Control Software
- Elevates the driving dynamics of plug-in drivetrain technology, creating a new dimension of pure driving pleasure—from a standstill to the physical limits.
- BMW Panorama iDrive display and vehicle control technology: “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road”
- The BMW Panorama iDrive display and vehicle control technology present all relevant driving information in the driver’s ideal field of vision, maximizing both ergonomic efficiency and safety. This entire system is powered by the newly developed BMW X Operating System, offering extensive personalization, intelligent driver assistance, and continuous software updates.
Innovations in the Neue Klasse are based on artificial intelligence
Thanks to the brand-new control electronics and a software architecture with four super brains (high-performance computers), the BMW iX3 is noticeably more intelligent in everyday situations—for example, with improved driving assistance systems and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with voice control. Thanks to the powerful BMW Cloud backend, the new control electronics and software architecture of the new model generation are capable of performing a number of intelligent functions that customers of the Bavarian premium brand can update online and take to the next level after the market launch.
The technology patents that BMW has filed in recent years largely celebrate their world premiere in the NEUE KLASSE model generation—such as the BMW Panorama Projector technology, the innovative computing functions of the “Heart of Joy” central computer, the control system and cell connection system for the high-voltage battery, the new electric motor, and the digital nervous system made up of new zonal controllers.
