The fulfillment of the 10 commitments announced by Minister of Construction and Transport János Lázár at the beginning of the year has reached an important milestone today: the new MÁV+ application has been launched and from now on, traveling cleaners will be on duty on all InterCity trains in the country and along the entire route.
For a while, the new application will be available in parallel with the old one, as it will not be launched with full functionality, but with the most popular services used by the most people and most frequently.
Among other things, the MÁV+ app includes more modern identification and user management solutions, thanks to which users do not have to log in on a daily basis once they have logged in, and the new mobile application can be used on the website sales interface (https://jegy.mav.hu/) and with the current username and password required for the old mobile application.
The new MÁV+ app starts with county and country passes, as well as Magyarország24 and Vármegye24 day tickets and pass presentation, but over the next year, updates containing additional fare products (e.g. tickets, discounts) and new features will arrive month by month, including one of the most important for the summer season, the delay insurance.
The introduction of the new application was preceded by a so-called beta test, to which active users were invited up to the 1,500 available seats. There was so much interest among active users who applied to participate that the testing spots sold out in just two hours.
The app can be downloaded here.
Clean InterCity (IC) trains from departure to arrival
ICs are the most used trains in the country, more than 1 million people travel on these trains every year, a total of about 91 thousand per year, on trains that provide a higher level of service, so the travel experience is fundamentally determined by the experiences that regular commuters or occasional travelers gain on them.
The service provided by the traveling cleaners has been tested in recent weeks, and as of today, the system has been launched live, with nationwide “coverage”.
The first IC of the day, kept clean from departure to arrival, was the EC 346 DACIA EuroCity train, which departed from Lőkösháza at 2:00 a.m. and headed to Vienna via Budapest Keleti Railway Station.
The cleaning activity is carried out on all IC trains in the country by a cleaning staff of around 160 on the day of the launch of the new system, for a total of more than 800 hours and nearly 64 thousand kilometres.
The continuous cleaning of InterCity trains this year represents an investment of 1.9 billion forints in the comfort of travel.
