Graduates’ Day was held at the Aquaticum Debrecen Strand
An extreme diving competition, water pong, a foam party, and many colourful programmes awaited graduating secondary school students on Tuesday at Aquaticum Debrecen Strand. Since 2020, it has been a tradition that after successfully graduating, young people can spend a day at the facility for free, organised by the local government.
On graduation day, students could not only attend the ceremony but also participate in various programmes in the Debrecen strand. They told the local news portal that they were pleased about the opportunity, which thus brought their secondary school years to a fitting end with a community experience.
According to Lajos Fazekas, the managing director of Aquaticum Debrecen Kft., approximately 2,000 students visit them on this Day every year. The local government of Debrecen has been providing complimentary strand access to newly graduated students since 2020.
“Debrecen is very proud to be a student city, and many young talents choose Debrecen as their study destination. Our job is to keep these young people and talents, because the city develops through them and can look positively to the future,” Mayor László Papp said.
The programmes included beach volleyball, but many people also entered the extreme jumping competition. One of the jury members was Deputy Mayor Diána Széles. “The splash competition always takes place in a fantastic atmosphere, but of course, the most important thing is the party at the end of the day, the foam party, and when the strand gets a little quieter, and it’s only for young people and graduates,” she said.
The good atmosphere was not only ensured by the summer sunshine, but also by the presence of two DJs playing music at the evening party.
