With multi‑billion funding, the research groups of the University of Debrecen will continue their work
22 groups have won funding in the National Research Excellence Program tender announced by the National Research, Development, and Innovation Office.
22 research groups at the University of Debrecen have won funding worth a total of almost HUF 3 billion in the National Research Excellence Program (NKKP) tender announced by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office, unideb.hu reported on Tuesday.
The list of successful applicants was recently published on the office’s website.
A total of 1,347 applications were received for the call, of which 309 research groups will be supported by the NKKP with a total budget of HUF 40 billion over the next four years to start and strengthen them.
133 research groups from 15 units of the University of Debrecen submitted their applications to receive the support, of which 47 applications advanced to the second round of evaluation, and 22 ultimately won a total of HUF 2.886 billion.
“This is a huge success, a significant improvement, and also a step forward, as while last year the university’s 9 research groups won a grant of HUF 685 million, based on the current results, the number of successful applicants has doubled, and with the help of the amount won, more than four times the amount can be spent on continuing research work, primarily basic research, in the coming years,” said Zsolt Varga, the university’s scientific director.
