PwC opens new office in state‑of‑the‑art business center

PwC first appeared in Debrecen two years ago. Based on positive experiences and market demand, this key player in the financial and economic services sector decided to open a new 30‑person office in the Forest Center.

“Today marks another milestone in our activities in Debrecen and in the life of our local office. With this step, PwC further strengthens its commitment to the region’s economic development,” said Tünde Kis, Director of PwC Hungary.

At the opening, CEO László Radványi emphasized the importance of cooperation built on trust: “What we see here in Debrecen is a business community, a university, a city, and incoming investors from different countries who are able to work together, align their efforts, and achieve great success.”

Mayor László Papp highlighted that after a decade of intensive economic growth, Debrecen has become a true regional business hub. He noted that PwC’s expansion acts as a catalyst for the further development of the city’s service sector, which already employs more than six thousand people.

“Our large industrial areas are nearing full capacity; we no longer plan to create new ones, but rather we want to promote the development of the service sector in the coming period,” pointed out László Papp.

Chancellor Zoltán Bács of the University of Debrecen recalled that the institution adopted a strategic shift ten years ago, enabling the model change that made it possible for the university to host the new PwC office in its state‑of‑the‑art building. “I believe the future has arrived, and we will shape it together. We are very happy to share this office complex, which will soon be fully utilized,” he said.

The opening was accompanied by a business conference, including detailed information provided on next year’s tax changes, especially for small and medium‑sized enterprises.

PwC Hungary’s partner Gábor Farkas highlighted that the threshold for VAT exemption has been raised in three steps from HUF 18 million to HUF 24 million, and the limit for choosing the small business tax has doubled—changes that will benefit many companies.

The company also celebrated the office opening by decorating a joint Christmas tree. In addition, it donated ten laptops for educational purposes to the neighboring Hunyadi János Elementary School.
