The jury will once again award the Wine of Debrecen title to a full selection

18 wines from 32 wineries in 17 wine regions competed for the Wine of Debrecen 2026 title. Champagne, rosé, white, red, and sweet: the jury will award the Wine of Debrecen title in a full range of wines in 2026.

This year as well, the professional jury searched for the top wines in a full range of wines, in seven categories. The competition has been held in the “cívis” city since 2015. The winning Hungarian wines will appear at Debrecen’s key events, official events, and gastro-cultural programs for a year, thus representing the city’s image. 

The public will be able to taste the top wines of 2026 for the first time at the city ball in January.

“Based on the impression its color, taste, aroma, and body make when we put the wine in our mouths and swallow it, professionals who have been judging hundreds of international wine competitions for years will give their opinions,” said Pál Kovács, a wine expert and “Friend of Winemakers” award winner and a full member of the Hungarian Wine Academy, at the event.
